Archway Systems, Inc., founded by Tom and Mike Lazear, has been
serving the needs of the CADD community since 1989. Over 100
years of CADD development, teaching, sales and services are represented
by the employees of the company.
MicroStation Products (Bentley
Systems, Inc.)
We are a Bentley Systems, Inc. authorized MicroStation Value-Added-Reseller
(MVAR) for Bentley's MicroStation line of products.
In this role, we provide consulting and technical services for
many of Bentley's products in addition to product sales and training.
We are also Bentley's exclusive Academic MVAR for Alaska, Arizona,
California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico,

Softimage Products (Avid
Technology, Inc.)
We sell animation software for students and schools.
Avid Technology's Softimage products epitomize the high-end of
animation software on the market today. We also provide
training and support for Avid Technology products since we are
a VAR for Softimage.
In addition, we distribute Softimage academic products throughout

VersaCAD products
VersaCAD® software was originally developed by the Lazears at VersaCAD
Corporation in the 1980s. It continues to be used throughout
the professional and educational CADD community. Archway Systems
reacquired all rights to the VersaCAD software in 1999. We
continue to improve, update and support VersaCAD software for both
the PC and Macintosh. If you are interested in VersaCAD, then

Other Products and Services
We also provide consulting services in a variety of areas such
as Programming, the Internet, Digital High School, and Networking. Services
Archway offers contract software development and has produced various
applications in the C language as well as Visual BASIC for dozens
of clients. Products developed include: extensions to
MicroStation, a complete system for design of orthodontic appliances,
a computer network simulator, and an OLAP and Data Warehousing product
call PowerPlan. Programming
We offer a large variety of training classes on MicroStation, Softimage
and VersaCAD software. Most are held at our headquarters but
we make arrangements at other locations when a business or school
finds that would serve both of our purposes more readily.
Training
Profile of the Lazears
Tom Lazear, the Chairman of Archway Systems, programmed
his first CAD project in 1959 at Fluor Corporation. In 1980 he started
the company which eventually became the Versacad Corporation.
The Versacad Corporation developed the first widely marketed CAD
software programs to the PC and Apple business and educational markets
in the early 1980s, including T-Square, CADapple, OmniDraft, MarsCAD
and VersaCAD. Tom Lazear has a Mechanical Engineering degree
from the University of California at Berkeley, a Master of Science
degree in Electrical Engineering from UCLA and an MBA from MIT's
Sloan School of Business. With his many years in the CADD
development market, he is frequently requested to be a guest speaker
at CADD events.
Mike Lazear, the CEO of Archway Systems, is the original
developer of VersaCAD for the PC. Highly skilled in the art
of programming, he is in much demand as a contract programmer.
Mike Lazear is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach
with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
