How This Book Is Organized
This book is divided into the following four parts.
USING: This section of the book is for beginners who
haven't used MicroStation before, or those who have used it for
some time but need to explore areas they may not have used thus
far, such as dimension-driven design and three-dimensional modeling.
Exercises help you throughout the book.
ADMINISTERING: This section is for those of you who
manage the deployment of MicroStation within your organization.
Here you learn how to fix corrupt design files, how to translate
files between different CAD platforms, how to implement standards,
and set up workspaces.
CUSTOMIZING: This section is for the power user who
wants to customize MicroStation to fit specific task needs.
Here you learn about the tools and interfaces available for creating
custom menus, cells, line styles, and for data exchange between
MicroStation and other applications.
PROGRAMMING: This section is for the corporate developer
who wants to create custom applications for MicroStation users at
his firm. You learn the four programming languages MicroStation
supports: User Command Language, MicroStation BASIC, MDL,
and Java-based JMDL.
