*MicroStation institute Classes qualify for AIA continuing education credits. We can train at our facility or at your facility. We can also customize your training to fit your needs. Not all of these courses are currently on our calendar. Classes run from 8:30 AM – 5:00 Pm and are taught at our Huntington Beach location. MicroStation V8 to XM (not J to XM)

Course length: 2 days

This course covers the new features and capabilities of MicroStation V8 XM Edition with an emphasis on user interface and productivity enhancements. The major new capabilities of V8 XM Edition are covered in a series of hands-on exercises. Learn about Task based interfaces and Project Explorer among other topics.

MicroStation Essentials

Course length: 4 days

The MicroStation V8i Essentials course is designed for the new MicroStation user and builds a solid foundation in the concepts, tools and features found in the MicroStation drawing environment. In this hands-on course, students are already using MicroStation by page four of the course guide. Starting with setting up a drawing and concluding with plotting, students walk through a typical workflow using the tools and features of the latest version of MicroStation. Interspersed throughout are real-world design problems solved using the concepts learned to that point in the course. Various engineering disciplines are represented in the form of hands-on exercises. This offering is taught using MicroStation V8i.

MicroStation for AutoCAD Users

Course length: 3 days

The MicroStation for AutoCAD Users course is designed to teach a 2D production draftsperson how to use MicroStation software to create quality designs. You will learn how to use MicroStation’s tools and features to create designs, manipulate and modify elements, assemble project data, and print.

MicroStation User Update

Course length: 2 days

The User Update course covers many of the new features and capabilities of MicroStation V8i with an emphasis on user interface and productivity gains. All of the major new capabilities of MicroStation V8i are covered in a series of hands-on exercises. Students will learn about Workflow Task based interfaces and Project Explorer among other topics.

MicroStation for Advanced Users

Course length: 3 days

The MicroStation V8i for Advanced Users course is intended for the experienced MicroStation user and focuses on the features of MicroStation designed to improve user and work-group productivity. Providing lecture, demonstration and hands-on exercises, MicroStation V8i for Advanced Users begins with a thorough examination of the DGN file, AccuDraw and ends with an introduction to importing and exporting CAD data from/to other CAD programs.

InRoads Fundamentals

Course length: 4 days

This course introduces civil engineering designers to using InRoads software for road design projects. This hands-on training walks students through the project design cycle; including setting up a project, existing ground data, geometry, volume design, and reporting. Students are encouraged to attend the InRoads Roadway Designer course after completing this training. InRoads Roadway Designer continues from this course and explores the Roadway Designer is much more detail.

Advanced Roadway Designer for InRoads

Course length: 3 days

This advanced level course introduces civil engineering designers to all the major technologies in the Create Template and Roadway Designer applications. Users attending will create templates to provide solutions meeting complex engineering criteria and use the Roadway Designer to provide solutions that integrate disparate engineering requirements.

Drainage Fundamentals using InRoads

Course length: 3 days

This entry-level course introduces civil engineering designers to using InRoads for Drainage Drafting and Design. This hands-on training walks you through introductory surface and geometry concepts, laying out drainage structures, displaying and annotating the drainage structures in plan, profile and cross section views, and designing the drainage structures.

Bentley Building Suite (3D) and Bentley Structural Fundamentals

Course length: 2 days

This course is a combination of the "Bentley Building Suite & 3D Fundamentals" and "Bentley Structural Fundamentals" course offerings. The first part of this course is intended to provide the necessary skills needed before moving into Bentley Structural. Topics covered will allow the user to rotate, manipulate and view models. Review a model and extract sections plans and elevations.Using Bentley Structural V8i Edition, you will be able to create an intelligent 3D model, review and edit the model, annotate, extract drawings, reports and schedules from the model.

Bentley Map Fundamentals

Course length: 3 days

This course teaches you how to create maps in Bentley Map and to manage source data by placing and editing features. You will also learn how to exchange data with other GIS file formats, perform spatial analysis, cleanup and create topology, and print a map model. (How to define an XFM project including XFM features is explained in the course Bentley Map Administrator.) This course material has been written for Bentley Map V8i SELECTseries 1, at a minimum version 08.11.07.87. After the completion of this course you will be able to get started using Bentley Map V8i SELECTseries 1.

Bentley Rail Track Fundamentals

Course length: 3 days

This course introduces designers to using Bentley Rail Track software for rail design projects. This hands-on training walks students through the project design cycle; including setting up a project, existing ground data, geometry, horizontal regression, switch and crossing layout, turnouts, and reporting.

Getting Started with MicroStation VBA

Course length: 1 day

Designed as a quick look at the capabilities of MicroStation's latest programming facility, this course takes the non-programmer through the VBA development environment with an emphasis on day-to-day activity automation.  This is a certified MicroStation Institute class.  The fee for the class includes workbook and lunch.

MS VBA for VB professionals

Course length: 1 day

This course is intended for MicroStation users who are VBA programmers and can benefit from a course on using VBA in MicroStation V8. After a brief overview of MicroStation VBA, the course explores a sample MicroStation VBA project. Topics include scanning files, building a user interface, handling events, locating and creating elements and "tying it all together."

Everything 3D

Course length: 3 days

For experienced users, this course explores Microstation's 3D capability in detail. Covers most concepts and tools used in MicroStation's 3D environment including 3D primitives, surfaces, and 3D view control is covered in detail. Includes discussions on Drawing Composition and an introduction to MicroStation rendering including lighting effects, camera setup and applying materials.  This is a certified MicroStation Institute class.  The fee for this class includes workbook and lunch.

Solid Edge Basics

Course length: 4 Days

Geared to the mechanical designer, this course introduces the concepts of part, sheet metal, and assembly modeling in the design process. First, it reviews some critical 3D skills. Next, it covers feature-based design. Lesson incorporate creating and modifying parametric solids with particular emphasis on the use of features such as rounds, chamfers, holes, bosses, ribs and thin shells. Parametric free-form solids and feature contraints are also covered. Solid Edge can be used to create constrained profiles, which in turn become driving geometry for parametric solid models. Finally, subjects such as composing final drawings, sheet metal, and assembly management are covered. This is a certified Solid Edge class using EDS course materials.
