Institute classes. Classes
vary from 1 to 4-1/2 days in duration and cover subjects in depth
using Bentley developed materials.
MicroStation Institute classes qualify for AIA continuing education
credits.
All classes, unless otherwise noted, are from 8:30am to 5pm at
our Huntington Beach (HB) training center or our
Point Richmond (PR) training center. All On-Line
(OL) classes are typically from 10AM to 2PM (Pacific coast
time). If there is no location noted, it will take place in HB.

Class Schedule
Essential MicroStation
Course length: 4 days
This course is designed for the new
MicroStation user and builds a solid foundation in the concepts,
tools and features found in the MicroStation drawing environment.
In this hands-on course, you are already using MicroStation by
page four of the course guide. Starting with setting up a drawing
and concluding with plotting, you walk through a typical workflow
using the tools and features of the latest version of MicroStation.
Interspersed throughout are real-world design problems solved using
the concepts learned to that point in the course. Various engineering
disciplines are represented in the form of hands-on exercises. The
fee for this class includes workbook and lunch for four days.

V8 to XM (not J to XM)
Course length: 2 days
This course covers the new features and capabilities
of MicroStation V8 XM Edition with an emphasis on user interface
and productivity enhancements. The major new capabilities of V8 XM Edition
are covered
in a series of hands-on exercises. Learn about Task based interfaces
and Project Explorer among other topics. The fee for this class includes
workbook and lunch
for three days.

Introduction to Bentley Architecture
Course length: 2 days
This course focuses on the introduction to 3D building
design and Building Information Modeling applied to Architectural
Design. You will learn how to upgrade from 2D drafting to 3D
BIM design. You will learn how to create 3D models shared by
all building disciplines and how to extract documentation from
coordinated models.

Inroads Road Basics
Course length: 3 days
This beginner-level
course introduces civil engineering designers to using InRoads
software for road and/or site design projects. This hands-on
training walks you through the complete project design cycle,
from creating the original ground DTM to the final plan and
profile sheets.

Inroads Plans Production
Course length: 1 day
This class takes users through the process of creating and annotating plan and profile sheets with InRoads. Users will learn how to use the Plan and Profile Generator and create sheets with vector and raster reference files attached, as well as how to create drawing annotation. The class uses a real- world dataset to demonstrate these techniques. The course applies to both MicroStation XM Edition and 2004 Edition.

Inroads Survey Fundamentals
Course length: 2 days
This entry-level course introduces surveyors and designers to using InRoads Survey.
This hands-on training walks students through processing raw survey files, resolving survey errors, viewing
the survey data graphics, and creating a digital terrain model of the survey.

Getting Started with MicroStation VBA
Course length: 1 day
Designed
as a quick look at the capabilities of MicroStation's latest
programming facility, this course takes the non-programmer
through the VBA development environment with an emphasis
on day-to-day activity automation. This is a certified
MicroStation Institute class. The fee for the class
includes workbook and lunch.

MS VBA for VB professionals
Course length: 1 day
This course is intended for MicroStation users who are
VBA programmers and can benefit from a course on using
VBA in MicroStation V8. After a brief overview of MicroStation
VBA, the course explores a sample MicroStation VBA project.
Topics include scanning files, building a user interface,
handling events, locating and creating elements and "tying
it all together."

Everything 3D
Course length: 3 days
For experienced users, this course explores Microstation's
3D capability in detail. Covers most concepts and tools used
in MicroStation's 3D environment including 3D primitives,
surfaces, and 3D view control is covered in detail. Includes
discussions on Drawing Composition and an introduction to
MicroStation rendering including lighting effects, camera
setup and applying materials. This is a certified MicroStation
Institute class. The fee for this class includes workbook
and lunch.

Softimage/XSI Quickstart
Course length: 2 Days
An introduction to Softimage XSI to enable new users
to learn the product quickly. The class begins with "how
to" session on installation and licenses and quickly
proceeds into model creation, animation, rendering and
methods of output.

Solid Edge Basics
Course length: 4 Days
Geared to the mechanical designer, this course introduces the concepts
of part, sheet metal, and assembly modeling in the design process.
First, it reviews some critical 3D skills. Next, it covers feature-based
design. Lesson incorporate creating and modifying parametric solids
with particular emphasis on the use of features such as rounds,
chamfers, holes, bosses, ribs and thin shells. Parametric free-form
solids and feature contraints are also covered. Solid Edge can be
used to create constrained profiles, which in turn become driving
geometry for parametric solid models. Finally, subjects such as
composing final drawings, sheet metal, and assembly management are
covered. This is a certified Solid Edge class using EDS course materials.
The fee for this class includes both the workbook and lunch for
three days.

This course will focus on making the novice user aware
of the potential uses of production level solid modeling.
The focus of this course is on the fundamental skills and
concepts central to the use of Solid Edge.
Students will have learned how to utilize Solid Edge to
design production level parametric models of parts, sheet
metal design, assemblies, detail drawings and document
management. They will also be familiar with the Solid Edge
user interface, adding features, sketching tools and various
modeling techniques.
