Bentley FAQ
- How
do I license my MicroStation software?
- Where
can I find my computer's name for MicroStation licensing?
Microstation has a new
licensing technique. This is what you need to do:
 |
Find
your computer name (see next question). |
 |
Email
your MicroStation serial number and computer name to registration@bentley.com. |
 |
Bentley
will return an email containing your license number. |
 |
Copy
all of the text in the actual email from Bentley and paste it
into
NotePad and save the file as msj.lic(if MicroStation J), msv8.lic(if MicroStation V8), DRAFTV8.lic (if PowerDraft v8) etc., into the bentley\program\licensing
folder (do only the email, not any MIME or other attachments). |
License pooling is available
for networks if you have SELECT. The advantage is that you can have
MicroStation loaded on more seats than the number of licenses you own.
At any one time, you can only have running the number of licenses you
own. If you want to take advantage of the license pooling option,
please contact us.
You can find your computer's
name:
 |
By
right-clicking on the Network Neighborhood icon on your desktop.
 |
If
you do not have a Network Neighborhood icon on your desktop,
then click on the Computer icon, then Control Panel folder,
then Network icon to show the Network window. Then click
on the Identification tab. |
 |
Or
try, My Network Places icon (right-clicking). When Network
and Dial-up Connections window opens, then choose Advanced pull-down
menu, and select Network Identification command. |
|
 |
Then
clicking on Properties, then the Identification tab. |
 |
Your
Computer Name will be listed on the Identification (or Network Identification)
tab. |
